COMPUTERS DON'T BYTE

Chek back in early August for fall dates.

Computers Don’t Byte One: Introducing Windows and Writing Letters

Build skill and confidence for the absolute beginner.  Explore the world of computers in a safe, fun, and non-threatening environment, even if you don't know what a computer looks like.  We'll cover computer anxiety, important terms, parts of the computer, keyboard, using the mouse, and moving around the computer to complete different tasks.  Then we'll practice what we've learned by typing letters in Microsoft Word.  Required text: Welcome to the World of Computers.

Computers Don't Byte Two: Working with Files and Browsing the Web

Now you can write a letter on the computer.  Once you save it, where does it go?  How do you find it again?  Get more comfortable moving around the computer and organizing the files you create.  We'll talk more about deleting, copying and saving.  Next, we'll browse the World Wide Web.  Required text: Welcome to the World of Computers.   Prerequisite: Computers Don't Byte One or knowledge of topics covered.

Computers Don't Byte Three: E-mail  and Searching the Web

Practice using Web sites called search engines to search for information across the Internet.  If you don't have an e-mail account, we'll help you sign up for one – it's fast and easy with a little help.  Learn how to send and receive messages and pictures.  Required text: Welcome to the World of Computers.   Prerequisite: Computers Don't Byte One and Two or knowledge of topics covered.
