School of Education > Early Childhood Education Dear Students,

Welcome to Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington and the Early Childhood Education program!

Surveys of Indiana childcare providers show they believe training is a very important issue in our field. In addition, providers want training to be linked to credit, and they want early childhood education training to be community-based, relevant and affordable. We have tried to address each of these issues in our community by offering two certificates in childcare training, and one early childhood degree at the associate level. The credits for the Child Development Associate(CDA), the Child Care Development Specialist (CCDS) and the associate of applied science degree (AAS) in Early Childhood Education are all transferable to many four-year programs. We strive to work with experts in the community to educate and promote the elements of quality care. We share information on scholarships available so students can obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to fill the growing needs of working families. Classes are open to anyone interested in raising the quality of childcare in our community by standardizing the training and giving credit to those who work the hardest to improve our profession. We look forward to working together for the benefit of local families.
