Community demand has prompted Ivy Tech-Bloomington to offer a course to help students prepare for the the Certified Nursing Assistant certificate (CNA) exam.
Certified nursing assistants are entry-level providers of direct patient care in today’s health care environment, and under the direct supervision of nurses, CNAs help with the routine care and treatment of sick, disabled and terminally ill patients in nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, and home health.
The CNA program at Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington is designed for those students who desire entry-level employment in the health care field. Each class will include 40 hours of classroom instruction and 80 hours of clinical experience in an extended care facility. Upon successful completion of these courses, the student must pass a test approved by the Indiana State Department of Health to meet certification requirements for employment. Selection to the CNA program is based on an admissions process.
