Practical Nursing Program
The Practical Nursing Program is available to those students who have no prior nursing training. This program begins every Fall semester (August) and every Spring semester (January).
The licensed practical nurse (LPN) is an integral part of the health care team. The Practical Nursing program is a one-year course of study leading to a technical certificate. This accredited program prepares the individual to take the state licensure exam to become a licensed practical nurse.
The program is designed for students to gain knowledge and technical skills necessary to care appropriately for patients in a variety of health care settings such as hospitals, extended care facilities, home health agencies, and physicians’ offices. Students learn to administer medications and treatments commonly performed by licensed practical nurses. All courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or better.
Career and educational mobility are also provided for those who wish to progress to the Associate of Science in Nursing level.
Associate of Science in NursingStudents seeking the ASN degree have two options:
The Transitional option or the Traditional option.
The Transitional option is available to students who have completed an LPN degree and have a license from the Indiana State Board of Nursing. This program begins every Summer Semester (May).
The Traditional option is available to those students who have no prior nursing training. This program begins everyFall semester (August) and every Spring semester (January).
