Workforce & Economic Development > HIRE ProgramFree HIRE training money now available The Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington’s Workforce and Economic Development Department, along with the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce’s Franklin Initiative, WorkOne, and MCCSC Adult Education, recently revealed our new employment-ready training, Help in Reaching Employment (H.I.R.E.). H.I.R.E. certification comprises three skill sets: basic skills, computer skills, and soft skills. The first, basic skills, is assessed by WorkKeys tests in reading for information, locating information, and applied math. Computer competencies are keyboarding, Internet, E-mail, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Word. Our soft skills training includes 48 hours of instruction in teamwork, integrity, critical thinking, conflict management, customer service, personal finance and health – all qualities that businesses have told us they need in an employee. H.I.R.E. is also an excellent training system for current employees who may lack the basic skills needed to excel or advance. Setting up a sponsorship is a simple process for both employer and employee with any or all H.I.R.E. classes. If you have questions or concerns regarding the FREE Training!
