Ivy Tech Recognizes Alumnus of the Year at Ceremony

Bloomington, Indiana-Each year Ivy Tech - Bloomington selects one of its graduates as an outstanding alumnus. This year's recipient is Beth Pless, Acting Registrar for the Bloomington campus. Pless was presented with the Alumnus of the Year award during the second annual Ivy Tech Alumni Reception held at Terry's Banquet Hall on Friday, April 21, 2006.
John Whikehart, Chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington, says that Pless goes the extra mile for students. "Beth has touched hundreds of student through her many years at Ivy Tech, first as a student and now as Acting Registrar. When students meet with Beth, they know that she is looking out for their best interest."
Pless earned a technical certificate in accounting and degrees in accounting and business administration from Ivy Tech-Bloomington. She will earn a B.S. in Vocational and Technical Education from Indiana State University in December. Pless has worked her way up the ranks at the Bloomington campus since 1996. She began as a work study student at Ivy Tech and now serves as Acting Registrar.
While a student, Pless was on the Dean's List three times. She is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and is active in community service, most notably volunteering at Buzy Beez Daycare and leading campus food drives to benefit Hoosier Hills Food Bank.
Previous Alumnus of the Year recipients at Ivy Tech - Bloomington include Dianna Holtsclaw (2005), Micahel Hahn (2004), Jack Cody (2003), Sheila Wright (2002), Dr. Mary Mahern (2001) and State Representative Peggy Welch (2000).
