Ivy Tech Offers New Criminal Justice Course
January 04 , 2006

Bloomington, Indiana—Ivy Tech is offering a new criminal justice course this spring entitled “e-Learning CRJ 133-Legal Issues in Corrections.” This course is the first distance learning course to be offered in an interactive format.

The college’s criminal justice department developed the interactive, online course to train corrections officers to be prepared for the legal issues they face in their work.  The course offers digitized lectures, video clips, interviews and guest speakers along with interactive study aids that include sample test questions and outlines.  These materials are delivered through a simplified menu on CDs that accompany the textbook and are in addition to frequently used e-Learning tools, such as a discussion board for peer interaction.

Ivy Tech was awarded a $19,983 grant earlier this year to develop a criminal justice course for Indiana Department of Correction personnel.  The grant was one of 13 awarded in the state coming from the Indiana Partnership for Statewide Education and the Indiana Higher Education Telecommunications System.

Contact Angela Maitland, Program Chair for Ivy Tech’s Criminal Justice Department, at (812) 330-6103 for more information about “e-Learning CRJ 133-Legal Issues in Corrections.”  To register for this class, or other Ivy Tech classes, call (812) 330-6350 or register online at https://web4ivytech.edu.
