Journeymen received their cards

Officials from PTS Electronics, Ivy Tech Community College and WorkOne of Bloomington recently celebrated the issuance of journeymen cards to electronics technicians who completed a training and apprenticeship program.

More than 80 new journeymen from PTS' television and cell phone divisions received the cards. They include employees trained through the Ivy Tech program and "grandfather" apprentices with previous experience and training.
Bloomington-based PTS Electronics combined classroom instruction at Ivy Tech and on-the-job training by its own employees to offer apprenticeships for repairing new flat-screen, large-screen and plasma TVs and other electronics devices. WorkOne, the local office of the state workforce development department, provided a $179,000 grant to provide equipment, supplies, books and fees for the program.
