One got its own day, another a whole month.
Ivy Tech and the "Kids Alive!" children's television program were
honored Friday by the Monroe County commissioners.
With Ivy Tech kicking off a major capital expansion fundraising
campaign, the commissioners said August will be Ivy Tech Month in
Monroe County, to honor its many contributions to the community.
The commissioners noted that Ivy Tech is producing a local "brain
gain" instead of brain drain the state has overall, by providing
critical training for future workers at a growing array of local
medical employers.
As
for "Kids Alive!," the Community Access Television Services'
educational program for kids is marking its 30th anniversary. It's
the longest-running children's program on cable-only television in
the nation. |
