■ Loans will be processed in the order received.

■  All financial aid and admissions forms must be received before a student’s Financial Aid file is considered complete.  See below for details.

■  Students/parents submitting loan requests or completing their files after the  priority deadlines will need to pay their bill or make payment arrangements with the Business Office by the fee payment deadline.  Contact the Business Office for payment options and deadlines.

■  Class reservations will not be held while your loan is being processed unless your loan application was received and your Financial Aid file was complete by the priority deadline.

Returning Borrower:
For students who have borrowed a Stafford loan while attending Ivy Tech - Bloomington in the past. Go to www.salliemae.com log-in page and follow the instructions.

First Time Borrower:
For students who have never borrowed a Stafford loan at Ivy Tech - Bloomington.

1.  How much should I borrow?
How much is tuition? Books? Transportation?  This handy chart will help you estimate the amount of loan you need to borrow.

              2. Loan Disbursement Procedures
               This tells you how and when you will receive your loan funds.

3.  Apply for a Stafford Loan
This is a three part process.   First you will be shown a list of lenders.  Once you have chosen one, click  the  “APPLY HERE NOW!” next to your choice.  You will be taken to a secure website.  Log-in to complete the two remaining steps.  If you do not have a User ID and Password for OpenNet, click “Register”.  You will first complete Entrance Counseling, an informational session giving you details about the Stafford loan program.  Pay close attention as you must answer quiz questions.  Next you will complete a promissory note.  You need   complete contact information for 2 references (one relative one not) including zip codes and area codes.

Is my file complete? 
For a Financial Aid file to be complete, the following items must be completed.

You must complete the FAFSA for the appropriate year and list 035213 as one of the school codes before we can complete a loan.  The information   which is needed to calculate your financial aid eligibility, including your loan, will be sent to our campus electronically.

Exit Counseling
All Stafford loan recipients who’s enrollment drops below half-time status (6 credit hours) are required to do exit counseling.  To complete exit counseling, click the following link.
