What is “transfer?”
“Transfer” is the acceptance of college credit by an institution other where the credit was originally completed. Students may request that Ivy Tech Community College accept credits earned at regionally accredited colleges and universities for completion of degree or certificate requirements. Transfer of credits from Ivy Tech to other colleges is possible. Typically, only courses approved for transfer, in which the student has received a grade of C or better, will be considered.
Transfer of credit from one college to another is not guaranteed. Every college has established policies and procedures for transfer of credit. Cooperative agreements between Ivy Tech Community College and other institutions provide assurance that Ivy Tech credits will be accepted at other colleges and universities. Students attending Ivy Tech in preparation for transferring a single class or a cluster of classes are strongly advised to seek prior approval from the receiving institution. A list of Ivy Tech courses which are pre-approved for transfer is available from the Transfer Center web page.
Information about specific courses that transfer, or about additional transfer agreements with other colleges, is available from your academic advisor or from the Office of Student Affairs, Room C105, on the Ivy Tech Bloomington campus.
