Keyboarding Assessment (Typing Test)

The keyboarding assessment is done on a walk-in basis. 

Students will need to type between 30-35 words per minute (wpm) with 3 errors or less.  Check with your advisor or program chair for a list of courses that requires a minimum of 30-35 wpm.  The keyboarding assessment consists of two 3 minute practice (warm-up) timings and two 3 minute final timings.  Allow about 30 minutes to take the keyboarding assessment.

CIS101 Test Out Assessment
The CIS101 test out assessment is done on a walk-in basis. 
The CIS101 assessment is for students who want to “test out” of CIS101 – Introduction to Microcomputers. 

  • Any Bloomington student may take the assessment. 
  • You may take the assessment ONLY one time. 
  • To receive Credit for the CIS 101 course – student must score 90% or higher on the assessment and pay a $45 fee to the Bursar’s office.
  • The assessment is in a simulated environment, in which the student must perform tasks in Windows XP, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint 2003
  • The assessment contains 65 tasks/questions.
  • Time allowed to complete the assessment is 60 minutes.
